Michele Nicastro is a B-Q MINDED Early Stage Researcher (https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/projects/b-q-minded/) and his current research involves the development of a MRI super-resolution reconstruction method in order to improve the trade-off between signal-to-noise, resolution and scan time.
Michele joined the Vision Lab in 2018 after completing his Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering at University of Pisa (Pisa, Italy). His master thesis focused on developing parameter maps estimation algorithms and statistical analysis techniques for diffusion MRI (dMRI) scans of the liver of patients affected by hepatitis C.
Prior to his MSc studies, Michele received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Roma3 (Rome, Italy). As part of his BSc studies, Michele completed a 4 month internship at Biolab3 where he developed an algorithm for pattern recognition-based myoelectric control of upper limb prostheses.
